This week on the Most Promising Artist spotlight we featuring Ndah Jay whose real name is Xolile Jama

The KwaZulu Natal Kwaito and Gqom star is one of the most hard working female artist in Durban. Before vanturing into music, Ndah Jay was an outstanding dancer and a brilliant actress and she has performed on big platforms such as Durban Playhouse Theatre.

She wasn't really envisioning herself as a recording artist until she recorded her first two tracks in 2013 and that totaly changed her career path entirely.

2017 Ndah Jay took a stand and chased her dreams of becoming a musician with full force.

She even had a chance to record at Professor's studio. She was also featured alongside another KZN talent called Gudman on Dj Sdoko's song titled "Ubumnandi."

The song got playlisted on major radio stations and also other various radio stations in the province including Ukhozi FM and Gagasi FM and that really took her music career to the next level.

Putting extra effort and striving to go an extra mile in what she does, Xolile has been securing booking all round KZN and Joburg.She has also attracted all types of media and shared stages with Mzansi's big names likke Dumi Mkokstad, Dj Tira, Ringo, Distruction Boys ect.

She contends that some of the biggest moments of her music career includes performing at the provincial Cultural Music Festival, being nominated as Best Upcoming Artist on LYD Award and winning a municipal Best Kwaito Artist Award.

Her Biggest wish is to work with Dj Maphorisa and Dj Tira and she aims to broaden her horizons and rise beyond borders.

This week on the Most Promising Artist spotlight we featuring the most respected KZN hip hop group called Rare Breed. The duo was formed in 2011 by Main Event and Rod Viyla.

Rare Breed recieved a huge support from the number one KZN hip hop promoter, Bon Hustla. He guided and supported the duo to record and able to release their first mixtape titled Weapon Of Mass Distruction. Their mixtape was released in 2013 and they also entered a Rap Yo Lokshin, where they were victorious and walked away with R3000 cash!!

In 2014 they focused on selling their mixtape and as they did, they found themeselves in numerous radio stations for interviews, charts and airply.

2018 they were fortunate enough to land a clothing sponser by the brand SamsonAfrica and have also been featured by GagasiFM on Dj Lab radio show called The Fresh Cut.

The duo have also worked with a lot of artists around KZN and have now stepped up their game by being booked in huge events and sharing the stage with the South Africas major artists. As one of their recent biggest highlights was performing at the Durban July this year.

HEADLINE: DURBANS RnB WILL NEVER BE THE SAME

This week's most promising artist is an emerging RnB singer, song writter Wandile Masuku (19). who's batter known by his stage name Wilter.

The Durban RnB singer was born on the 2nd of Junuary 2000, grew up in a township called KwaMashu and 8 years later moved to a neighbouring township called Ntuzuma. He was 9 years old when he got inspired by hip hop music but he had no clue that its could influence him to write his own songs.

In 2014 his love for music grew much bigger when his sister introduced him to RnB/Soul music and in the same year he realized that he could sing but only started writting songs in 2015, than the following year he recorded his first RnB track.

2017 Wilter gained confidance and realesed his first EP called Extended playlist. One of his biggest highlight came the following year where he appeared on national television, when he auditioned for Idols SA.

Wndile Say's his style of writting and vocal backings on every song seperates his artistry from all other artists but still finds it hard to get into the mainstream.

28 July 2019 Wilter Dropped his second promising EP called Rhythm in Durban which the title is influenced/inspired by Durban RnB sounds.

HEADLINE: VOCALISTS BRINGS LIGHT THROUGH MUSIC

This week’s most promising artist is the beautiful, soulful singer called Nolwazi Ayanda Mabizela (30) from Durban, who is best known for her beautiful music. Her music journey began from her late teenage years as she used to play with her guitar and also teach herself to hold chords and write music in her own native language, which later inspired her to become a house and a deep house vocalist.

Soul pryc media asked her who inspires her to write such soulful and enjoyable music. Her response was “I get a lot of inspiration from a lot of artists, both international and local, just to name a few, India Arie, Lauryn hill, Mariah Carey, Thandiswa Mazwai, Simphiwe Dana and etc.” She also stated that she hate comparing herself when SPM asked her how is her music different from other artists who are in the same genre as her, because what makes her music stand out is the uniqueness of her voice and her blend of acoustic elements. “Being an independent artist and managing to put forth a product without any financial resources got to be her biggest highlight of her music career”, she said.

Lwazi is currently working on her brand new album which will be titled UKHUKHANYA, it means “Light” when its translated to IsiZulu. Before she drops a full project she will first release other singles which are already recorded and they will be available in all digital platforms. In this upcoming project it will be very likely to have no featured artists on it as she said she finds it hard to work with other people as she is still an independent artist but wishes to work with the legendary TKZee, Lady Smith Black Mambazo and Dj Maphorisa in future projects or singles.

This week we shining a spotlight on Sbongiseni Sithole, who’s best known by his stage nameManuza(23).Manuza is an upcoming artist specialing in acting and singing, he started following his music calling in 2010 in a group called Romantic Boys.

A few months later the group decided to take a solo journey and explore individually. After the group decided to split Manuza started his on recording label called Manuza Records that spacialises in film and music production.

Ever since Manuza went solo, he discovered a new genre that best suit his charater and also easy for him to pass the massage that he really wants his fans to recieve. He named his discovered genre Romantic Gqom as its shares similar gqom sounds, melodies and etc.

Releasing five singles back to back with the most played song in the streets titled Kelelina, which features Msawawa on the second version of the song.

Sbongiseni says, his music is very unique from other artists because he writes about what he has experienced and also on what his currently going through in his life journey and aslo as an artist.

He says, he gets most of his inspiration from the award winning actor called Simphiwe Majozi(Sbu from uZalo), Dj Target noNdile and Msawawa.

His biggest highlight was when he shared a stage with SA's biggest artists such as Casper Nyovest, Kwesta, Babes Wodumo and etc. In a near future he wishes to work with Dj Tira, Dladla Mshunqisi and Babes Wodumo on the song one day.

This week’s most promising artist we're featuring Syabonga Sakhile Ximba, who’s best known by his stage name PhenoX (21). The Mlazi Born rap star spent some time in adams collage before returning home. Not long after coming back home, Phenox joined First Class Entertainment in 2015 alongside Ash and Musiholiq, whom we profiled last year September. In 2016 Phenox uploaded his first song to the internet and kept releasing good music that led him to gain a lot of attention and a steady growth in his audience. His first standout singles were titled President featuring Musiholiq, F-word and Lost and there were released in 2018.

Phenox has been featured by a lot of Durban upcoming artists as he draws most of his inspiration from mainstream local artists, such as K.O, Cassper Nyovest , Zakwe, Duncan just to name a few but he also get some inspiration from books and everything around him. Phenox stated that , he don’t really register any of the things that happen in his music journey as highlights because he feels like it’s long overdue, when asked about his biggest highlights so far. But if he would have to pick one, he would probably pick the day that the late legendry HHP shared his EP’s cover on his instagram account.

Even though his main challenge is finance to fund his dream, he manage to finish and release a mixtape in June 2018. The Straight A Dropout mixtape had few guests artists featured on, such as Musiholiq,Brave,Ash and Candice. The tape received critical acclaim for being the first of its kind and was dubbed an instant classic. The tape was released digitally for free, in attempt to extend his reach and grow his audience. Straight A Dropout is just a tip of the iceberg for him, he said. With no doubt and confidence he said he does not limit or be fixed on any specific sound, he always willing to experiment and explore musically.

Real Name Mbuso Blose,started doing music where he lived with his siblings and mother, he then later on moved to from 2001 then later on in 2004 he created a Rap crew called 4051 with magic and Duncan and started performing in shows around Durban

By saspekt.The crew split up and they decided to work on their solo careers, He then featured on Duncan's Street Government Album on a track called “Koze Kuse” ft mampintsa (big nuz) & Mfana Ka Gogo.

This week’s Most Promising artist is Sanele Mncwabe (27) who is better known by his stage name PK Mncwabe. He is a South African hip hop recording artist who is originally from Durban. He started his journey at the age of 11 years old, where he was a solo dancer and at the age of 14 he formed a group called Red Devilz. They became well known on the street and they even made it on the SABC 1 show called Jika MaJika, which was very popular back in the days.

PK Mncwabe was introduced to the world of music by Humble G and Spercy. In 2012 he was part of a rap group called Same Time Crew and it also received a lot of attention and became very popular in their hood, sadly the group was disbanded in 2015 and that when PK Mncwabe decided to take a solo journey. Like any up and coming artist he had to find a job after matriculating to buy a studio equipments since her parents didn't have enough funds to send him to tertiary level institudes.

After registering his record label company in 2016, he hasn't look back as he believes that his more than just an artist. Something about the rhythm of OB's flow, the way the phrases his intelligent rhymes, turns his voice into an instrument. Her birth name is Lerato Zondi, born in Pietermaritzburg August 16 and grew up living with her father. At the young age she has always wanted to be a star and have dreams of being an actor, dancer and a singer. She started writing her own songs at the age of 12 but started recording at the age of 16. The first song that made hip hop fans and other artists notice and pay attention to her, was her 2015 single track titled "Freak Impossible" under Blackshemb entertainment.

This week’s Most Promising artist is Dumisani Moses Nxumalo (27) who's well known by his stage name Duma Soshandini. The local conciouse rapper who's currently 27 years old was born and raised at Mayville Durban KZN. He fell inlove with hip hop music at a very young age, while he was still in primary school (2004). He was strongly inspired by the late Mandoza and the living legend Zola 7 and also the international hip hop legend Jay Z.

Duma also drew his inspiration from where he lives , his lyrics he includes what is happening around him and his rap genre is kasi rap, which also known as venecular rap. He said "He believes that his music is different from other kasi rap artists because when he raps he touches your heart with his lyrics and he often raps about things that everyone from Kasi/ Ghetto can relate to". He also mentioned his biggest highlights was when he shared a stage with big, talented and well known artists at Durban Spring Break last year and his Owadubula track got played and stayed on the top 5 local chart on uKhozi FM namba namba.

This mixtape has 15 tracks with hot singles called Indabazami that he dropped last year and K'dala. This project features O.B, Lockboy who we profiled last year, Gaba and Zeraw. Also working with the most hard working and talented producers in Durban. O.B, Mbzet, Dj Swing and Oudskul are the four producers that contributed on the anticipated project. On the 23 February, Duma is launching the project at Pure Lounge and it is the official release date for Mojaville mixtape. As this is his first project, his next one he would love to work with the likes of Kabomo, Blacklez, Zakwe and etc.

This week’s Most Promising artist is Thobeka Mhlakoana Lady K(23) who grew up in the root of Pietermaritzburg. As a young Kid one of her biggest dreams was to became one of the biggest Female Hip Hop star in SA since there are few Female Rappers in the industry. Lady K started her journey this in 2011 when she recorded her first song with Dope Nation Entertainment which was at that time at PMB. That was her first step in realizing that she can make her dreams a reality. After completing her high school years she then moved to Durban where she met Kali Beatz. She started working with Kali Beatz in production and in her music. Thobeka doesn’t care which position anyone can rank her on because she enjoy the pleasures and benefits of being on top without any pressure like who’s rank number 1 has, quoting Mary Jane.

Lady K’s first performance was at Bat Center with the likes of Duncan Skuva on his Kasi Khayalami tour. Her first performance blown the crowd away as the audience was shouting and chanting her name, you’d swear she was the next Eve if not Beyonce. She was then recognized by many and from that day she started receiving gigs back to back performing around Durban with Sky Wanda, Nelz and many other female artists. She went on performing at Durban July in 2015, sharing a stage with Zakwe, Big Zulu, Zulu Boy and many more. Lady K said “ It urged her into working harder even more to what meets the eye. ” She has work with uKhozi FM on countless occasions when it was Cleva UngaGiveUp , she won a song battle on the face to face hip hop show hosted by Dj Lab in Gagasi FM and had countless radio interviews with many local radio stations.

The self-Driven and talented Lady K, her single titled FLOW LEADER made it to number 2 on kasi mp3 as one of the most downloaded songs, she then became number 1 on HoodUp Hip Hop Show on Inanda FM with her new single title HELLO. One of her greatest experience is when she was at 1KZN TV for a live interview and its was her first time being on live TV. Thobeka recenctly performed on one of the biggest event in Durban on The Durban Braai Day in People’s Park. Lady K and her manager Xolani Sibiya are now working on her mixtape which they hoping to release next year April as they are busy now with music videos and photoshoots. This group has been making waves and blessing their audiance with some beautiful music and amazing performances. The group was formed by both members in 2014 when both of them were still at high school. Sabelo Mkhize(Dj Bello) was born in Thongathi and went to Nkosibomvu high school where he met his fellow crew mate Zakhele Mthethwa(Gallo).

Black Coffee being their inspiration and Motivation, Bello and Gallo wants to take gqom music into the most high level it ever reached as Black Coffee did to his music and genre and also be recognised world wide. Their dream is to see Gqom music being featured on international billbords. The only challange they're facing right now is the fact that music has a lot of politics and that causes a lot of set backs.

This week's Most Promising Artist is Masiya who is from Cator Manor.He was born and raised at Umgababa in KwaZule Natal. Masiya started his music journey by writing kwaito song. He was ask to join Moja Pooh production where he got to work with other upcoming artists.At Moja Pooh productions he worked with the likes of Umshosha Phansi, Mhlonishwa and Ice. Masiya was groomed by Phumuza Dj Pooh Zindela who also gave him his stage name and is the founder of Moja Pooh prodictions.

Masiya is a conscious rapper who raps about social issues and hoping he can change the world with his music. He made his first appearance in Moja Pooh mixtape volume 3. Masiya is no signed under any record lable but he has worked with some few records stables such as 4kasi which is owned by Mbzet. The conciouse rapper Masiya dropped a 17 track mixtape called "Utalatiya". This week's Most Promising Artist is Ngcebo Minenhle Ngcobo who is known as LockBoy.He was born in KwaZulu Natal (Marianhill) and grew up at peitermaritzburg (Kwaswayimani) and later he moved to Chesterville. He fell inlove with hip hop music early 2000, where he started by just dancing. At his high school years he started writing poetry and it where he became more interested on rhyming and delivering the massage through writing.

2007 he then started writing lyrics of his own songs and attending rap cyphers at the age of 16. On year 2010 it's when he started taking his music career in to anather level and recorded his first music and attending more gigs around Durban as well as performing his craft. He released his first project in 2012 which had 14 tracks on it and it was called Free Tape. His second project was released on 2015 which he named it 1stLegMixtape and it had 16 tracks. 1stLegMixtape did very well and attracted a lot of audiance that made his fan base very strong and making him one of KZN's favourable rappers

LockBoy

LockBoy has worked with a lot of artist around KZN such as Young Cannibal, Mesiya, Akamission, Mshizi, OB, DumaSoshandini, Lamula Boy and many others. Zola 7 was his main inspiration on his music then later he was also inspired by Zulu Boy. Ngcebo would like to work with Zakwe and Zulu Boy in his future projects as his releasing his latest project soon. The upcoming project is called k'moshakele and it has 22 tracks on it. K'moshakele Mixtape will be launched on the 29 September at Pure Lounge.

This weeks Most Promising Artist is L2 Everyday who like to call him self "Digital Malume". He was born and raised in a small township allocated in Durban called Ntuzuma. L2 has beening bubbling under like any other hard working upcoming artists in the music scene. He has been featured on some short film and also he directed his own music video. He believe in giving his talent 100% and he applies the same to everything else he does. L2 is also a co-founder of Digital Marketing and events angancy called Black Pineapples, which also publishes his nusic and his signed under Black Pineapple.

This weeks Most Promising Artist is Ncazelo Mtolo, all the way from eMlazi. Ncazelo who is known as MusiholiQ started his music journey by just making beats on his computer 6 years ago. He recorded his first song late 2012 and decided to take a break from music the following year because he wanted to focus more on his studies. From 2014 he started recording again and got featured on other local artists songs. Collaborating with artists such a Razo,Target,Mbzet and etc. Ncazelo told Soul Pryc Media that his name came from his excessive love for every genre of music. He said his name mean that his addicted to music with no limitations.

MusiholiQ is currently pushing his 9 song Ep which he recently released this year. The Ep is called Mjit'owenzinkinga and this tittle is taken from his street nickname. On this Ep he worked with Zakwe, Ash, Phenox and any other artists. He just came back from his Ep tour which went very successful. MusiholiQ also got featured on Zakwe's recent album called Cebisa which had the biggest single called Sebentin. MusiholiQ hit 10k views on YouTube out of Post Molone- Rockstar Cover.

He says his careers biggest highlight was at FNB Stadium where Casper Nyovest hosted fill up FNB last year. He got to perform for 68000 people who made it to the event and his very greatful for having that opportunity like that.

Phumlani Avin Zondo(24) who is known by his popular song covers and his unique style of music that he loves to call "Zulunglish". The name P.A is taken from his real names initials(Phumlani Avin). He started his music journey 2013 at the age of 19 and he said "from there i never looked back". Like all othe growing Artists, he has encounted so many challanges in his career but his biggest challage at the moment is finance. He wants to do music videos for his song and also be able to do feature with anyone he want.

He says his music is different from other artists,only because he mix all genres in one song and he went on saying "that how creative i am". lot of Dj's has aproached him and ask about his music and request his music from him. P.A is currently independent not signed under any record stable. At moment his working on a new single called "Kwathi Angikhulume". On this upcoming single is working alone, from writting to production and he also manage and market his music himself. He does get help from other artists that he have worked with.
